Samsung Electronics Obtains Two International Standards for Cloud Security Certifications to Prove Global Competitiveness Samsung Electronics has proved the world's best information protection and system operation capabilities by acquiring two types of cloud-related international standards certification.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 1st that it has simultaneously acquired "ISO 27001 (Information Security Management System)" and "ISO 27017 (Cloud Service Information Protection Management System)" established by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and certified by the Royal Standards Society (BSI). The MX division, which is in charge of mobile devices such as smartphones, proved that the management system and information protection of its own "Private Cloud" for services such as terminal software updates are the best in the world through this certification. ISO 27001 is one of the most prestigious certifications in the field of information protection and was established in 1999 based on the "Information Security Management System (BS7799)" standard defined by BSI.

In order to obtain the certification, 11 areas, including information protection policies and access control, and 133 management standards must be met. ISO 27017 can be acquired only when the cloud service environment and information protection management are established and operated in accordance with international standards. Through the acquisition of the certification, Samsung Electronics has proved that its cloud operation capabilities and technology are the best in the world and expects external reliability to improve. The importance of cloud technology and information protection is becoming more important in a rapidly growing business environment, said BSI (British Standards Institution), the world's first national standard-setting organization. "This review has confirmed that Samsung Electronics' private cloud system operation capabilities and security meet the international level." Samsung Electronics has made no efforts by securing cloud technology and strengthening its security capabilities, said Ahn Gil-joon, vice president of the mobile platform center at Samsung Electronics' MX division. "We will continue to make efforts to thoroughly protect the private cloud system in operation and ensure that Samsung Electronics' various services are operated safely."
